When are school fees due?

The school year is divided into three separate terms (trimesters). Trimester fees are payable in advance on September 15th, December 15th and March 15th. It is possible to set up an automatic standing order (autorisation de prélèvement) from your bank. The school will supply a form with the first bill (facture).

What do we do if our French bank account is not yet set up and we don't yet have a cheque book?
You can pay school fees with a money transfer from a foreign bank account. You can also pay with a $ cheque, but any bank charges will be at your expense. Your child will need a number of cheques at the beginning of term, so you will need to contact Catherine Jedor to discuss your best course of action. Catherine's English is not strong, so if you cannot manage the discussion in French, she will pass you to a colleague who can help.
Who do we contact if we have questions about the bills or difficulties with paying them?
Please contact Catherine Jedor. If you have a problem paying a bill in time, please contact Catherine to discuss what special arrangements can be made.
How do I get a receipt for the fees?
Just ask Catherine Jedor in accounts.
How do I pay for school meals?

The fees for ‘demi-pension (a full meal+lunchtime supervision) or cafeteria registration (lunchtime supervision) or (Primary only) Lunchbox supervision will appear on your school fees bill each trimester. Those children on ‘demi-pension’ can then choose a full lunch (starter, main course + veg, cheese and dessert) every day. If they don’t choose to eat a full lunch, there is no refund.

If your College/lycee child is registered for the cafeteria, you need to credit their lunch card. The school suggests €80 per month, but if your child is an enthusiastic eater, this may only last 3 weeks. Each time they buy a lunch, your child will receive a ticket indicating how many ‘points’ they have spent that day, and how many remain. Remind them to tell you when they are running low as you need to send in another cheque (payable to EABJM) that can be handed to the secretary of the school division. To avoid sending a cheque every month, you can credit larger amounts to the card if you like. The children will still be given lunch if they run out of points but you will receive a reminder from accounts that you are in debt!

Why do I have to pay for lunchbox when I am providing the packed lunches?
This charge is to cover the lunchtime supervision. Note also that Lunchboxes are eaten in a separate room from the canteen.
How often will I get school reports?

This varies by section, but generally you will receive 3 reports by post on paper – at the end of each trimester. This will be supplemented every 6-8 weeks by the Carnet Scolaire (Primaire)/ Carnet de Correspondence – a grade book, which your child will bring home.  All your child’s teachers will enter grades and sign with short comments. You are expected to sign this to show that you have seen the grades. You may add any comments of your own if you like. Please note that the French grading system is generally tougher than that in many other countries. Please discuss any concerns about the grades with the teacher concerned. In primary classes in Dupleix and Suffren, children will have two semestrial reports on paper (January/July), plus three reports in the Carnet Rouge.
