Language Certifications
During the course of their studies at EABJM, students sit a number of outside language exams, including the University of Cambridge FCE (First Certificate in English) and IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education), the International Baccalaureate A2 Certificate in English, the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), the Goethe-Institut exams in German, the PLIDA (Progetto Lingua Italiana Dante Alighieri) in Italian and the DELE (Diploma de Español Lengua Extranjera) of the Cervantes Institute in Spanish, etc., all of which are linked to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages for which there is a standardized set of competencies defined by ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe). A description of the ALTE proficiency levels is provided in the downloadable PDF document below. In Japanese, students sit the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test).

International Baccalaureate language A2 courses are language and literature courses designed for students who have a high level of competence in the language they have chosen and should not be confused with the more elementary A2 level of the ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe).

German language certificates
In 2005, a group of students in 4ème and 3ème (8th and 9th grade) sat the Fit in Deutsch exam, an A2 level exam of the ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe). In 2006, most students sitting this A2 level exam were in 4ème (8th grade). Beginning in 2006-2007 all 4ème students will sit the A2 level exam.
In 2005 and 2006, some première (11th grade) students sat the Zertifikat Deutsch exam, an ALTE B1 level exam. Beginning in 2006-2007, all seconde (10th grade) students will sit the B1 level exam and terminale students will sit the B2 level exam.
