Admissions

Admission Procedure
There are four distinct admissions procedures for EABJM-Paris according to the age and schooling background of the applicant. Please refer to the Lille pages of this Web site if you are applying to the EABJM-Lille campus. If you have any doubt as to which procedure applies, consult the grade equivalency chart below. Also note that there is a separate procedure for adaptation classes for new non-French speaking students who follow a special French immersion program for their first year at EABJM during which a senior advisor follows them closely until, the following year, they join the mainstream.

You may contact the school for more information by phone, mail, email or via an online inquiry. Once you are ready to apply, you may do so directly with an online application, request an application form from the Admissions Office or download the form. The non-refundable application fee is €40 for an online application or €65 for a paper application. In either case, the completed application form (unless online) and the required documents should be sent to:

Moyenne Section (Pre-K) - Grande Section (Kindergarten) - CP (First Grade)
Children should be 4 years old by December 31 of Moyenne Section, 5 in Grande Section and 6 in CP

Application documents checklist:

  • A completed application form (by mail or online)
  • A non-refundable application fee of € 65 for mail applications or € 40 for online applications
  • Three passport photos
  • Copy of the applicant’s birth certificate
  • Any available school reports must be sent in as soon as delivered by the child’s school
  • An evaluation is required to determine if an early bilingual education is appropriate for your child:
    • An evaluation by an orthophoniste if your child is French-speaking and schooled in France (1)
    • WPPSI or equivalent in all other cases—in the language of your choice
  • A letter of recommendation for the parents (written by family, friends or professional relations)
  • If the parents are divorced, an authorization signed by both to enroll the child at EABJM
The deadline for completed applications is January 31. Deadlines are waived for non-residents planning to move to Paris. Although it is the school’s policy to reserve spaces for such cases, the number of available spaces is limited and we urge parents to apply as early as possible.

The application procedure includes three additional steps:

  • First, attend a school presentation: presentations of EABJM—followed by a Q&A session—take place almost weekly throughout the year. Dates are available on our Web site. We require that parents attend a school presentation—even alumni and parents who have or have had children enrolled at EABJM. Please confirm your presence at one of these presentations by email.
  • Second, meeting parents: an appointment is scheduled for parents to meet with one of the Heads of Primary School, the Director of Admissions or the school Principal. We request that both parents come for this appointment, which lasts approximately 30 minutes.
  • Third, meeting your child: children are invited in groups of 8-10 to spend approximately one hour with one of the Heads of Primary School at our Dupleix campus: 15, rue Edgar Faure – 75015 Paris.

Notification

The Admissions Committee examines applications in late March and families residing in Paris are notified by April 30.

(1) An orthophoniste evaluation is not required of Moyenne Section French-speaking applicants schooled in France, but children will then be evaluated by an orthophoniste at the end of the first term of Grande Section. This evaluation will help the parents and the school determine whether a bilingual education is suitable for your child.
